Key Features

The synergistic effect of the basic structure "Spiral X" and the reinforced structure "High Power X" creates an overwhelming sense of stability.

The blanks of the Sephia SS use Spiral X as the basic structure. This is a three-layer structure in which carbon tape is densely wound diagonally in the opposite directions on the inner and outer layers of the vertical fibers of the rod, achieving high levels of torsional rigidity and crushing rigidity while maintaining lightness.

In addition, the outermost layer is reinforced with carbon tape wrapped in an X-shape, using High Power X. This design maximizes the blank's inherent potential.

The effects of Spiral X and High Power X can be felt even during actual fishing such as egging, when casting or fighting, where the rod is under high load. For example, even when you are jerking the egi powerfully, the rod does not shake easily and allows for stable operation. Also, when a large squid is hit, it can withstand the strong jet propulsion and you can land it with confidence.

While it bends comfortably and smoothly, its high torsional and crushing rigidity gives it a stable feel and reduces power loss due to twisting and crushing, making it a blank that will give anglers a high level of satisfaction.

The Sepia SS has a rich lineup of 14 models, and is suitable for all types of squid fishing.

The core of the lineup will be the 8'6" and 8'3" length models for eging. The S86 in particular is a popular length that combines long-distance casting ability and ease of use, making it highly versatile, and six power levels are available, with ML at the center, as well as L, ML-S, MS, M, and MH. This allows for detailed selection depending on the situation at the point, the size of the target squid, the size of the egi used, and so on.

For the short length models, you can choose the S76 or S79. The S76 in particular is suitable for shallow run-and-gun egging using small egi, and is also an ideal choice for targeting arrow squids.

The longest model of the Sephia SS is the S93ML. With its long length, it can cast far and wide, allowing you to target untouched areas where fresh squid lurk.

Models with -S after the power notation indicate models with solid tips. Evolving from the previous model, Tough Tech α, it uses Tough Tech ∞, which has even higher strength. Recommended for delicate squid jig operation and games where you need to be sure to land a subtle bite.

Overcomes twisting and crushing, improving rod performance from the ground up.
Spiral X is a three-layer structure in which carbon tape is densely wound in opposite directions on the inner and outer layers of the rod's vertical fibers. The inner and outer diagonal fibers achieve high torsional rigidity and crushing rigidity while maintaining lightness. This is Shimano's unique "basic structure" that improves instantaneous power transmission during fishing actions such as casting and fighting, maintains lightness, and enhances the "ground power for catching."

High power X

A reinforced structure that further suppresses twisting that occurs during casting and fighting. The feature is that the carbon tape is tightened in an X shape from the outermost layer of the spiral X or the carbon sheet vertical and horizontal crossing structure. As a result, the bending of the rod maintains the direction intended by the angler, and the original performance of the blanks is fully demonstrated.
