Calcutta Conquest BFS, a dedicated bait finesse machine with cutting-edge functions condensed into an elegant circular body, has been reborn with the low inertia Magnum Light Spool III and NEW FTB. The lightweight lure stretches even lower, as if crawling on the water surface, and can handle flip casts of around 1g.

NEW FTB that achieves a relaxed flight with a wide range of compatible settings

The Calcutta Conquest BFS uses the NEW FTB, which expands the range of motion of the brake unit and allows for a wide range of brake settings. In the conventional model, the magnetic force of the magnet affected the spool even when the dial was set to 1, but the NEW FTB succeeded in reducing the effect of the magnetic force on the spool to as close to zero as possible due to the magnetic ring effect. The synergistic effect with MGL Spool III has further refined the light launch and extended low trajectory.

NEW FTB has a magnetic ring inside. With a design that allows the brake unit to have a larger stroke than conventional models, and a structure that allows the magnetic ring to be further retracted, the effect of magnetic force on the spool during minimum braking is brought as close to zero as possible.

S3D and silent tune contribute to improving casting performance.

Cutting technology S3D that increases spool precision and Silent Tune, which applies light pressure to the bearing that holds the spool to reduce vibrations during high-speed rotation, also contribute greatly to improving casting performance. In addition to the MGL Spool III and NEW FTB, by thoroughly eliminating elements that inhibit rotation, we have been able to stably achieve long casts that do not stall until just before landing on the water.

Silent Tune

Finesse Tune Brake (FTB) System
Shimano's original brake mechanism. Pursuing the lightest spool for bait finesse. Reducing the weight of the spool is a major issue in improving the pitching performance of lightweight lures. Conventionally, we tried to reduce weight by blanking the spool, but as long as the brake unit was included, there was a limit. The FTB, which Shimano independently developed, has succeeded in developing the lightest spool in the history of Shimano bait finesse reels by eliminating the brake unit from the spool.
